The Herbal Ally Way-Let’s talk antioxidants.

According to medical professionals, antioxidants are one of the best supplements to help the body combat the damaging effects of free radicals. The antioxidant content in most fresh fruit and vegetables varies, but rainforest fruits are often more beneficial than those from other regions. For example, acai berries are loaded with antioxidants, which makes them appropriate for use as a superfood. A prefix like 'anti' is used in opposition to something, or in a way that helps to correct it. Chemicals called antioxidants work against oxidants that damage cells.  It is believed that oxidants play an important role in numerous bodily processes, and  that this is why they are found in the body. 🌿 Wort-Cunning Wednesday’s 🌿 This weeks Plant Oracle Card is Betony-Reversed. (Stachys betonica)✨Confrontation ✨Avoidance ✨Feeling Wounded🌿. The card shows Wood Betony, which according to Pliny was the best species of this plant to use in herbal medicine. Betony was a bit of a super plant, an All Heal, with a great many properties, including antiseptic, antispasmodic and anti bacterial. It can be found worldwide. 🌎 🌿 In reverse this card is asking us to make sure we are not avoiding something that needs to be faced. It is often easier to put conflict to the side without fully confronting the issues involved. This may help us get on with life in the present but eventually the problem will need addressing...

   Once you have decided upon the herbs and oils that are beneficial for the project you have in mind, it is time to infuse the herbs into the oils. How to Make an Herbal/Oil Infusion: Its Easier Than You Think!    There are two traditional methods of infusing herbs into an oil. The hot oil infusion method is quick and painless, while the cold infusion method can take anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks. I was taught that the cold infusion method is more medicinally beneficial, but after working with both cold and hot infused oils both, I find each method has its own pro’s and con’s.
